This is industry standard tolex material (vinyl with fabric weave backing) used by guitar/bass amp manufacturers. It is not meant for embroidery, and would be much too thin for your purposes.
Vinyl thickeness Tolex - Levant/Bronco Seafoam - By Yard (54" Wide)
I use vinyl for embroidering on, so it has to be at least .90mm in thickness. What is your vinyl thickness ?
