It is a glossy finish. I would first contact Solo for warranty support, as you may have received defective product (or there may be another layer of plastic to remove). They should assist at their expense.

I ordered a "Solo 3 Ply Red Tortoise Pickguard Blank” from Solo Music, and when I peel off the protective soft plastic coating, the material underneath has a dull matte finish and is very cloudy - not at all what I would consider normal tortoiseshell pickguard material and unuseable . So I just want to be sure.
