I want to put these on an 8.5 radius neck , would it be better to buy it in the 2 foot lengths or can these pieces

That's a decision only the installer/luthier can make. Some believe over-radiusing slightly is fine, or maybe even a bit better. For those people, using these would be fine. Some believe the radius should always match perfectly, in which case they should order straight pieces and radius directly to their needs.
