That's typically left up to the preference of the builder. You can use larger, more powerful neodymium rod magnets and go magnet by magnet. You can use 2 large neodymium disc magnets attached to a vice, spaced out about 1" apart, and pass the pickup through the gap. You can do something similar with large bar magnets. You can use an electromagnetic charger. There are several methods. It depends on your preferences, equipment, and level of expertise.
