Would this work as a replacement in a modeling amp? Specifically the VOX VT40X. Original one is damaged.

The original speaker in that amp is a custom designed VOX OEM speaker with a 5-ohm impedance. Using an 8-ohm speaker will result in reduced output and sacrificed tone. Using a 4-ohm speaker may damage the amp. You'll want to contact a VOX dealer for a proper replacement. Or, you'll need to run an 8-ohm and 16-ohm speaker in parallel together to reduce the impedance down near 5 ohms.
