No. It floats above the body, using the string-thru holes for the trem springs to anchor to through the guitar. If you buy the proper model for your guitar (based on the measurements provided), no routing required. You'll need to drill new screw holes to mount the bridge. But, you definitely don't need to rout any new cavities.
