It "should" be grounded. If not, it will introduce a bunch of noise to your signal. So, replacing a cover does involve re-soldering the ground wire.
Is it a easy as bending the tabs to change a tele neck p/u cover? Telecaster Pickup Cover - Neck Black CLEARANCE
I’m not concerned about wax or anything like that, just if it’s grounded somehow or soldered, or just the tabs?
