Strange. I would expect noise to occur not at all, or in both instances. Without diagnosis, I could only guess. Confirming the wiring is done right, the solder joints are clean, and cleaning the contacts of the switch should resolve the issue, if it is an issue with the guitar itself. If that doesn't do it, there may be other (external) things at play.
