No-Load pots are pots that disconnect entirely from the circuit when turned to full. To put it as simple as possible, the pots in a guitar circuit lower the resonant peak of the pickup, even when turned to full. That's why 500K pots sound "brighter" than 250K pots. The ability to disconnect the tone pot completely from the circuit means your guitar can get a slight bump in the resonant peak (making the guitar sound slightly louder and brighter) when turned all the way up. However, these only work for tone controls because if it was in the volume position, it would actually disconnect the pickups from the output. Hope that helps!
