Can i get away with a 3/8 router bit or do I need a 9mm?

I'm thinking a 3/8 router bit will work to route the channel but just want to confirm.

The truss rods are 6mm wide, so a 6mm would be ideal. 1/4" bit is OK if you use silicone on the ends (debate on that one is endless). 9mm is the height of the truss rod. That would be the depth of the channel, which you set with your router. However, you may want it deeper with a thin wood strip on top, to keep the spokewheel slightly lower than the surface of the fretboard. It's all up to the builder's preferences, really.
