If you're just referring to the soldering lugs, convenience. The second hot/tip lug is redundant. You could just use whichever one is most easily accessible in your circuit layout.
If you're referring to other benefits, there are really only two main benefits (despite what some marketers would have you believe). First, a nicer/tighter fit on the jack. Second, the extra tip may have benefit if the other one begins to oxidize to the point of failure. But, that's a rarity with well made jacks (like Switchcraft), and only really happens over very long periods of time (usually decades). It's also easily fixed/cleaned when it does happen, so it may not really even be necessary.
