Best choice to replace 15"speaker in an Ampeg PF115HE Bass Cab Eminence Legend CB158 - 300W 8ohm

Hello:

I want to replace the 15" speaker in my Ampeg PF115HE. It ships stock with an Eminence 15 that is buzzing. Checked the cab for rattling areas while playing low notes on the bass. I bought this cab used and of course am experiencing buyers remorse. It looks easy to remove and I am pretty handy with this type of stuff, so...

Ampeg says the cab can handle 450 watts, but that's probably peak. Can you recommend a 15 inch bass driver from your inventory or order book that would be a good replacement? The stock driver attaches with four allen screws, so it would be great if the attachment holes in the new speaker would line up. Any advice is much appreciated in advance. Cheers!

That is actually a complicated question. The rattling could be due to several factors, not related to the driver at all. If you're using a solid state amplifier with it, it is more likely the amplifier itself that is peaking. That needs to be narrowed down before considering a replacement.
